Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. The most exciting, and at the same time the most authentic gangster story in the history of motion pictures is promised in " DILLINGER," the Pathe- Monogram drama which opens an engagement at the Pavilion, Selsey, on Monday. This thrilling film is an actual part of current history, closely following, as it does, the criminal career of the man who was listed by the F.B.I. only a few years ago as Public Enemy Number One. Lawrence Tierney plays the title role of the notorious John Dillinger, and other important roles are in the hands of Edmund Lowe, Anne Jeffreys, Elisha Cook, jun., and Ralph Lewis. A spectacular romantic adventure of the seventeenth century Caribbean, ablaze with buccaneers and wily Spaniards and the clash of swords and deeds of dare-devils, comes to the screen on Thursday, in "THE SPANISH MAIN," a Frank Borzage production in Technicolour. The film stars Paul Henreid and Maureen O'Hara with Walter Slezak, Binnie Barnes and John Emery.
