Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. THE colourful life of a fairground forms the background for the drama, "THERE IS ANOTHER SUN," to be shown at the Pavilion, Selsey, to-morrow (Sunday) and Monday. It tells the story of a romance between a young boxer from a boxing booth and a chorus girl which is nearly ruined when the boxer comes under suspicion by the police because of his loyalty to a ruthless speedway rider. Wall of Death and Speedway riding combine with boxing scenes to add to the excitement. A musical-domestic comedy, "ON MOONLIGHT BAY," is the attraction on Tuesday and Wednesday. Starring Doris Day and Gordon MacRae, the film is set in the years of World War I and its humorous plot makes delightful play of the fads and fancies of the era, as well as acting as a setting for some pleasantly nostalgic tunes. It tells of the romance of a girl and the college boy of whom her father disapproves. Starring Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman, a back-stage romantic comedy in Technicolor, "JUST FOR YOU," is to be shown on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The gaily patterned story tells of a successful Broadway producer's efforts to make up for the past neglect of his teen-age son and daughter. The son's first love, to the embarrassment of his father, is the film's leading lady who is some years older than himself and in whom his father is also romantically interested.
