SELSEY. Concert at the Cinema. —An enjoyable entertainment was given on Boxing day in the Cinema Hall, where a good audience assembled. The programme commenced with two quartets. MacDermott. a.r.c.m. Miss Mabel Clayton then favoured with a song, “The Trail that leads to Home.” followed by a duet, “Love and War '' which was delightfully given by Mr. L. Fryer and the Rev. K. H. MacDermott. The vocal part the programme was interspersed by an interesting display by Mr. Sidney Fielder the famous prestigitateur, who enthralled all with his clever delusions, introducing gems of sleight-of-hand. Miss Helen Leitch next gave a song entitled, "Sing, Joyous Bird," followed by more quartettes, "Scottish Cradle Song,” “O can ye sew cushions,” and “The Goslings", and that fine Christmas song, “The Star of Bethlehem,” by the Rev. K. H. MacDermott. Mr. Fielder then favoured with some mysterious magical problems, after which Miss Mabel Clayton rendered " I bring you Pansies,” which was followed by a duet, "The Moon has raised her Lamp above,” a song, "Good Morning, Brother Sunshine,” Miss Helen Leitch, two quartets, "The Minstrel Boy," and the "Long Day Closes". Mr. Fielder concluded with an original display, consisting of a “Seance Fantastique” and "Hand Shadow Surprises,” and after the National Anthem had been sung the audience departed highly gratified with the evening's performance. The proceeds were on behalf of parochial funds.
