Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. GREER Garson, co-starring with Walter Pidgeon. plays her first complete comedy role in “JULIA MISBEHAVES” at the Pavilion, Selsey, for the beginning of next week. She will be the cause of many laughs with witty remarks and numerous slap-stick scenes which include the capsizing of a rowing boat. Heading the supporting cast in this fast-moving comedy are such well-known names as Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Lawford and Cesar Romero. A more serious film is showing for the remainder the week when the Ealing Studios’ drama, "TRAIN OF EVENTS", will hold audiences in suspense. Starring Valerie Hobson, Jack Warner, John Clements, Irina Baronova and Susan Shaw, the film tells of the adventures of four sets of people and how they came to be on the express train which ran into a petrol lorry on a level crossing. There is the genial middle-aged engine-driver (Jack Warner); the London waif (Joan Dowling) and an escaped German prisoner-of-war, who are very much in love; the musical composer-conductor, and a solo pianist: fourthly, the highly-strung actor who murders his wife and put her in a theatrical basket which accompanies him on the train. All four episodes merge as the train prepares to depart on its fateful Journey.
