Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
The Selsey Follies Curfew or no curfew we see that the "Selsey Follies" are still going strong. Selsey has to spare them to cheer up Wittering and Sidlesham certain days of the week, but we must count ourselves lucky that they have stayed here throughout this extremely difficult summer. The Follies, with Mr. Dan Denton and Miss Dorothy Charlton, as particularly old friends, have made a very definite home here and become a real part of the Selsey summer. This is due not only to their excellent entertainment, but also to the active interest they take in local affairs, and the help they are so ready to give for various good causes (such as the Red Cross, which has benefitted very much already from the proceeds of the performances they have given on its behalf). By the way, we hear that Mr. Alan Hacking (who is still patiently waiting for the R.A.F. let him start work with them) gives an occasional turn at the Follies and is an extremely amusing addition to their number.
