PAVILION, SELSEY. For the first three days of the week entertainment is provided by " HE LOVES OF JOANNA GODDEN." It has the Kentish Romney Marsh for its setting and tells of the beautiful, self-willed Joanna Godden (Googie Withers) who decides to defy convention by running the farm which she inherits from her father in the early 1900s. As a woman who loves three different men after their different fashions, she discovers, through many a trial and heartache, that the first of them was also the last. Also starred are John McCallum, Derek Bond and Chips Rafferty. Presenting Jean Simmons in her first starring role, "UNCLE SILAS," to be shown on Thursday for three days, is adapted from the famous classic thriller of the same name and concerns a young girl whose innocent faith in her guardian uncle is wickedly betrayed. Uncle Silas (Derrick de Marney) has as his accomplice a terrifying governess, Madame de la Rougierre (Katina Paxinou). and together these two characters bring suspense well to the fore.
