Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. A FILM that deserves to be ranked with the really great Westerns of cinema history is "MAN WITHOUT A STAR," starring the irrepressible Kirk Douglas. As the cowpuncher escaping from the barbed wire fences that are encircling the open ranges he loves, Douglas shows a sense of natural humour that matches his ability for furious action and there is certainly no lack of action in this violent tale of warring cattle ranchers. "CULT OF THE COBRA" is reviewed under Orion, Midhurst. The human drama that goes on behind the bright lights and tinselly glitter of a carnival company travelling in Europe is vividly shown in "CARNIVAL STORY," a Technicolor drama filmed in Germany with a top-grade cast including Anne Baxter, Steve Cochran, Lyle Bettger and George Nader. "MARRY ME AGAIN" is a musical extravaganza starring Robert Cummings and Marie Wilson. "WE'RE NO ANGELS," is the hilarious story of three tough criminals who escape from Devil's Island prison on Christmas Eve, take charge of a small store in the town nearby, and instead of robbing the proprietor and his family, stay with them and help them in their time of difficulty. Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray, and Peter Ustlnov are starred.
