FIRE BRIGADE BALL. The Selsey Fire Brigade, now up to date in every respect, has taken another popular step forward by holding a ball—the first of its kind. but an event which is to be an annual one, and which bids fair to occupy a leading place in the social round at Selsey. The occasion attracted 230 people to the Pavilion on Tuesday night, including many of the holiday visitors, and they danced happily from 8 o'clock to 1.30 a.m., Mr. Frank Stocker's band from Waterlooville providing excellent music. Mr. S. B. Arnell (Chairman of the Parish Council and of the Fire Brigade Committee), took an active interest in the ball, the arrangements for which were ably carried through by the Chief Officer (Mr. R. Selsby) and committee. Winner, of prizes were: Spot dance, Mrs. Smith and her son; non-smile dance, Mr. and Mrs. George Edwards; card dance, Mr. Barnes (Sidlesham) and partner. The proceeds of the ball will be devoted to the Fire Brigade's local benevolent fund.
