Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. "WHO GOES THERE?" (Sunday and Monday) is an amusing British comedy with a strong cast headed by Nigel Patrick, Valerie Hopson, Peggy Cummins and George Cole. The fun begins when an Irish girl (Peggy Cummins) comes to London in search of her fiancee who is in the Guards. She finds him on duty outside St. James' Palace. Then she has the misfortune to faint. Almost frantic that an officer should not see his fiancee prostrate on the pavement, the guardsman (George Cole, of course) carries her into the Palace kitchen, hoping, praying that the occupants of the Palace will not arrive. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there is a double attraction, a British thriller and a 3-D film. "WINGS OF DANGER" stars Zachary Scott, Robert Beatty and Kay Kendall. The plot concerns two friends, Van and Nick, who are pilots in an airline owned by Boyd Spencer. On a special mission for Spencer, Nick crashes and it is assumed that he is killed. The police become interested in the airline, suspecting a currency smuggling racket. The 3-D film, " A DAY IN THE COUNTRY" is a 15-minute novelty effort. "THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO" is a lavish Technicolor spectacle starring Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward, Ava Gardner and Hildegarde Neff.
