SELSEY FETE. BABY SHOW AND TENNIS TOURNAMENT. Residents take things very seriously, but they are equally to enter into things that pertain to the lighter side of life and on Wednesday last, they allowed the shadow of affairs municipal to be lifted for awhile, whilst they enjoyed to the full the feast of good things which were arranged in connection with the annual fete and tennis tournament. Whatever the older folks like to say about it, there is not the least doubt that the most successful part of the whole proceedings was the baby show. For a while “His Majesty the Baby” reigned supreme, and those who profess no liking for babies were attracted by the bonny lot that were on view. The judging, which naturally in a show like that, is no easy metier, was in the capable hands of Mrs. Miller Jones and Dr. Cunningham, and whilst, what is also natural, some mothers thought their babies were far and away best, it was generally conceded that the decisions were fair. What the babies themselves thought is another matter. The fete concluded with a very successful dance, which was hold in the Pavilion. N.B. A long list of prize winners has been edited out.
