Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. NEXT week's entertainment at the Selsey Pavilion consists for the first three days of "SMART WOMAN " and "SILVER RANGE,” starring Johnny Mack Brown. The intriguing plot of "Smart Woman" stars Brian Aherne, a special prosecutor, and Constance Bennett as a woman lawyer working for racketeer Barry Sullivan. Michael O'Shea and James Gleason play prominent parts in the supporting cast, which also includes Otto Kruger. Convinced that a district attorney is corrupt, the Governor appoints a special prosecutor to look into the case. Johnny Mack Brown is starred in the supporting western “SILVER RANGE." which lives up to the standard of his previous pictures. Together with a programme shorts, "YELLOW SKY" is featured for the last three days. With a cast that includes Gregory Peck, Anne Baxter and Richard Widmark, the 20th Century Fox production could hardly fail to be a success. Seven outlaws, led by Gregory Peck hold up a bank and, pursued by U.S. Cavalry, ride into a 70-mile stretch of salt flats where, exhausted and craving for water, they stumble on a ghost town. Here they find an old man and his daughter prospecting for gold and the film shows how the lust for gold overcomes the outlaws, all except their leader, who falls in love with the old timer's daughter.
