Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. THE horrifying experience of a man who grows smaller and smaller every day is shown in "THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN," starring Grant Williams. The impact of the war on the lives of a married couple is shown dramatically in "THE MAN IN THE GREY FLANNEL SUIT," a marital drama starring Gregory Peck, Jennifer Jones, and Frederic March. Business problems and a second dramatic story are also worked Into the film, but the lengthy flash-backs of thrilling war scenes which are necessary to hold the plot together, tend at times to become confusing. Gregory Peck gives a thoughtful and sincere characterization as the husband; Jennifer Jones is excellent as his wife; Frederic March gives a convincing portrayal as a harassed business magnate; Lee J. Cobb contributes a superb character cameo as a human old judge; and the strong supporting cast includes Marisa Pavan, Ann Harding, Keenan Wynn, Gene Lockhart, and Connie Gilchrist. Few films in recent months have had the colourful backgrounds and dramatic Impact of "INTERPOL," the new Warwick Production starring Victor Mature, Anita Ekberg, and Trevor Howard. It tells the story of the work of the International Criminal Police Commission, and their efforts to smash a dangerous dope-smuggling ring operating throughout Europe. An American detective is personally assigned to the task of capturing the ring's ruthless leader, and the trail leads across France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and Turkey.
