Women's Institute Meeting-Chichester Observer-Wednesday 8 January 1930
Transcript:

W.I. The monthly meeting of Selsey Women's Institute was held on January 1st and was well attended in spite of the rain. Miss Hillman, who was last month elected President for the coming year, took the chair for the first time, and wished all the members very happy New Year. A most interesting lecture was then given Miss Ramsay on “A Hundred Years; Getting About the World.” She described very vividly the discomforts of old-time travelling, and the rapid changes that the last fifty years have brought about. After tea, an amusing sketch was given by the following members of the Girls’ Friendly Society; the Misses Hemming. O. Fullick, K. Smart, E. Brooker and L. Stiller. A hearty vote of thanks to the actors was proposed by Mrs. Bailey, to which the audience responded warmly.
