SCAMPS "Jack Up" Repute. The SCAMPS, by their production of "Jack and the Beanstalk," have brought the world of make-believe to patrons at the Pavilion Cinema, Selsey this week. The company are giving first rate performances. The script is highly amusing, with many topical allusions, and Mr. Frank Currie, an imaginative designer. is responsible for the scenery. obtained striking effects. The colourful costumes were designed and made by Olive and Elizabeth Bedells, and Hazel Spickernell. John Bunn. is brilliant as Mother Hubbard, proving himself particularly in his scenes with Simon-not-so-Simple (played by the producer, Roy Balcomb) to be a superb comedian. Roy Balcomb can always be relied on for a good performance and Jo Francis is a delightful Principal Boy. " Bunny " Abery has made his first appearance on the amateur stage as the Demon King, with a most attractive voice. Nellie the Cow. acted by Olive and Elizabeth Bedells. nearly " steals the show ". Hazel Spickernell, as Tom the Piper's Son. sings and dances superbly: and as the Fairy Queen Beryl Wakeling's miming and dancing are a delight to watch. Dickie Appleby, as always. gives a good all-round performance as Baron Hardiest, the cruel landlord. Other parts are well taken by Jim Burch. Bob Read. Jim Ireland. George Lindsay and Rita Wakeling.
