The colourful costumes were designed and made by Olive and Elizabeth Bedells, and Hazel Spickernell. John Bunn. is brilliant as Mother Hubbard, proving himself particularly in his scenes with Simon-not-so-Simple (played by the producer, Roy Balcomb) to be a superb comedian. Roy Balcomb can always be relied on for a good performance and Jo Francis is a delightful Principal Boy. " Bunny " Abery has made his first appearance on the amateur stage as the Demon King, with a most attractive voice. Nellie the Cow. acted by Olive and Elizabeth Bedells. nearly " steals the show ". Hazel Spickernell, as Tom the Piper's Son. sings and dances superbly: and as the Fairy Queen Beryl Wakeling's miming and dancing are a delight to watch. Dickie Appleby, as always. gives a good all-round performance as Baron Hardiest, the cruel landlord. Other parts are well taken by Jim Burch. Bob Read. Jim Ireland. George Lindsay and Rita Wakeling.
