PAVILION, SELSEY. STARRING Karl Malden and Claude Dauphin, "PHANTOM OF THE RUE MORGUE" shows Paris at the turn of the century; a City shocked and fear-ridden by a series of incredibly brutal murders. Set against the fog-laden streets of London, "TIGER IN THE SMOKE" is a thrilling drama of mystery and murder in the City's underworld. To the sinisterly grey background is added the evilness of a man named Havoc, who, living up to his name, wreaks violence and death to all who cross his greedy path. Tony Wright has his first major starring role as Jack Havoc, and emerges as a cold-blooded killer whose answer to argument is the spring-knife. The driving force behind Havoc, who has made a murderous escape from prison, is a search for a treasure discovered on a war-time mission in France. Dragged into this world of intrigue are a group of innocent people. including Meg Elwin (Muriel Paylow), the widow of a major, and Geoffrey Levett (Donald Sinden), who clashes with Havoc because of a case of mistaken identity. "DESTRY," starring Audie Murphy, Marie Blanchard, Lyle Bettger, and Lori Nelson, tells the story of young Tom Destry. son of the famous sheriff, following in his father's paths of glory. Like his father, young Tom Destry believes that law and order can be maintained without the use of firearms. The supporting film, "RUNNING WILD," is the explosive story of a group of foolhardy American teen-agers who get mixed up in many shady dealings.
