SELSEY. Sir Archibald Hamilton, BART. wishes to announce that a concert will be held Thursday evening in Easter week, at the Cinema Hall, Selsey, in aid of the Roehampton Hospital. A Military Whist Drive. A successful whist drive was given by the officers. N.C.O.’s and men "C" Company 2/9th Hampshire Regiment, to their numerous friends in the district, on Wednesday at the Cinema Hall. Invitations were accepted by over 200 friends, 164 of whom sat down to play. Captain A. Robson, the Company Commander, welcomed the guests on behalf of officers. and men of the Company. After twelve hands had been played, refreshments were saved by military waiters, who were much at their ease waiting at table as they are on their parade ground. A military touch was given to the evening’s enjoyment by bugle calls, sounded by Bugler Hart. To commence play the "Fall in" was given; at the refreshment interval “Cook House" was heard, causing much amusement, and to re-commence play "Fall in" was again sounded. At the close Mrs. Robson presented prizes to the following ladies and gentlemen : Mrs. Dudley, Miss E. Wingham, Miss F. Harris, Miss Wyatt, Mr. Martin. Sergeant Colles, Cyclist Lowman, and Lance-Corporal George. A very enjoyable evening was ended with the National Anthem. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Sergeant P. B. Hayward.
