PAVILION, SELSEY. RETURNING by popular demand is the heart-warming story of life in the Australian outback, "SMILEY." Colin Petersen is the lovable youngster who gets into innumerable scrapes. Tom Ewell, Jayne Mansfield, and Edmond O'Brien, star in "THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT," a light-hearted comedy with a Rock 'n' Roll beat. Jayne (40-18-35) Mansfield is seen as a racketeer's girl friend who is being groomed for stardom. A theatrical agent is engaged to boost her career, but although her beauty causes a minor sensation, her singing talents are nil. There are 17 Rock 'n' Roll hits in the film, and among the artists who appear are: Fats Domino, The Platters, Little Richard, Johnny Oleen, Nino Tempo, The Treniers, Eddie Fontaine, The Chuckles, Abbey Lincoln, Gene Vincent, and his Blue Caps, and Eddie Cochran. But it is Miss Mansfield, who has outwiggled Marilyn Monroe, who Is the star of the picture. A leading critic enthused: " She Just has to turn, twist her shoulders, stretch a leg—and she undoes your nervous system."
