Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. When Chuck Connors (Wallace Beery), the uncrowned King of New York's Chinatown, shelters a down-and-out girl named Lucy (Fay Wray), his devoted young friend Swipes (Jackie Cooper), a waif of the slums, is wildly jealous and reluctantly joins forces with Chuck's rival, the fabulous Steve Brodie (George Raft). This action brings about many situations, both comic and dramatic, in "THE BOWERY," to be presented on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. "DEAR MURDERER," completing the week's entertainment, marks the first production by Betty Box, Britain's leading woman producer. This exciting psychological thriller shows how Lee Warren (Eric Portman) plans the "perfect" murder of his wife's (Greta Gynt) lover, to save their marriage. He executes the crime, but through his own uneasy conscience, and the further infidelity of his wife, the plan goes awry.
