Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. Lou Costello has two parts in Universal's "THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES," —himself, and his ghost. So has Bud Abbott—himself and his great great grandfather. The new comedy, coming to the Pavilion on Monday is the 17th screen enterprise to be undertaken by the famous clowns. Seen in supporting roles are Marjorie Reynolds, Binnie Barnes, John Shelton and Jess Barker. Gay, refreshing as a holiday and filled with lilting Jerome Kern melodies, "CENTENNIAL SUMMER", - from 20th Century-Fox, opens on Thursday. Here is a musical with a story, and the music helps tell the story. Technicolor makes the most of the lavish Centennial Exposition scenes and the glowing youth of Jeanne Crain and Linda Darnell. Eyes, ears and heart will all revel in the appeal of the simple family tale, gaily and melodiously told against colourful backgrounds. Other important roles are played by Cornel Wilde and William Eythe.
