Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. "PERILOUS HOLIDAY," an American magazine serial by Robert Carson that thrilled millions, is brought to the screen by Columbia Pictures, starring Pat O'Brien with Ruth Warrick and featuring Alan Hale, Edgar Buchanan and Audrey Long. It will open at the Pavilion, Selsey, on Monday. The story takes place in Mexico City. The city is filled with intrigue, love and murder and set to the rhythmic beat of the rhumba. Pat O'Brien has been cast as Patrick Nevil, an adventurer with an eye for trouble. Ruth Warrick portrays Agnes Stuart, the girl columnist who knows all the answers. "THE BELLS OF ST MARY'S," which comes on Thursday, is a deeply moving and richly humorous portrayal of life in a parochial convent school. Bing Crosby can be seen as Father O'Malley, who takes over the position of rector at St. Mary's. Ingrid Bergman has the role of Sister Benedict, the Sister Superior, who has her own ideas on child education, which does not always agree with those of Father O'Malley. The friendly conflict of ideas furnishes some of the most delightful scenes in the picture.
