Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. "WANTED FOR MURDER," the ambitious British film which will be given world distribution by 20th Century-Fox, will be coming to the Pavilion on Monday next. The film was adapted from the stage play by Percy Robinson and Terence de Marney and has as its central character, a man haunted by the spirit of his great-grandfather who held the position of public hangman to Queen Victoria. He is forced, against his will and in spite of good intentions, to live a life of evil and even commits murder for the sheer thrill of it, but suffers agonies of remorse afterwards. Victor Colebrooke, the central character, is brilliantly played by Eric Portman who gives the finest performance of his career, whilst the supporting roles are played by Dulcie Gray and Derek Farr. "THE BANDIT OF SHERWOOD FOREST," photographed in Technicolor, comes on Thursday and stars Cornel Wilde, Anita Louise, Jill Esmond and Edgar Buchanan.
