Transcript:

MAN CHARGED WITH SELSEY CINEMA RAID. CHARGED with breaking into the Pavilion Cinema, Selsey, and stealing £39 7s. belonging to Mr. Ronald Hesse, John Burningham (23), of 1. Uplands, Yapton, appeared on remand before Chichester Magistrates last week. Burningham had been remanded since September 11 on a charge of breaking and entering the Gaumont cinema store, Chichester, earlier that day, and the charge concerning the Selsey cinema was put to him for the first time last week. Supt. A. G. Barnett said there was one further charge of stealing at Ford, on September 10, a car worth £460 'belonging to Mr. Maurice Knowles. The prosecution would be in a position to proceed on October 3 (today) and he asked that Burningham be remanded in custody until that date. This request was granted by the magistrates.
