Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1920-1929
Women's Institute. On Wednesday in last week, the Selsey Women's Institute held their monthly meeting in the Pavilion, there being a good attendance. After the usual routine business the members settled down to a very entertaining and instructive lecture by Mrs. Clowes on "The History and Legends of Sussex." The lecturer was a delightful orator, and in describing the beauties of Sussex in all its seasons, and quoting old legends and quaint sayings with a pleasing mixture of humour and pathos, she kept her audience thoroughly interested. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded her at the close of her address. There was also a competition for guessing advertisements, which was entered into with gusto. After tea, the Selsey Wolf Cubs, under their leaders, Miss Child and Miss Halstead, gave a very creditable and enjoyable programme. The proceedings ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
