Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
SELSEY PAVILION. Although his characterisation in this film is a completely new one for him, Dan Duryea scores his fourth consecutive cinematic triumph in Universal- International's "WHITE TIE AND TAILS,” which commences Monday at the Pavilion Cinema. Co-starred with lovely Ella Raines and William Bendix, and playing a suave butler role, Duryea performs with the same ease and impact which marked his work in The Woman in the Window,” Scarlet Street,” and the recent Black Angel.” Those who like their screen fare served up with pointed, subtle wit, expressed in both situation and dialogue, will be amply content with “THE TROUBLE WITH WOMEN” co-starring Ray Milland, Teresa Wright and Brian Donlevy, which is presented on Thursday. The vivacious, crackling screenplay by Arthur Sheekman, sets out to prove that a professor of psychology and authority of the subjugation of women is as helpless as any distraught romantic if he falls in love - and is dumb enough to show it! The lively humour of the story is maintained by an excellent cast of players in support of the stars.
