PAVILION, SELSEY. In "DUEL IN THE SUN," Gregory Peck and Joseph Cotten portray two brothers. Lewt and Jessie. who both fall in love with Pearl Chavey, a half-breed. When in a blind passion Lewt murders a person whom he thinks Pearl loves, he is forced to take to the hills as an outlaw. Eventually, the brothers meet again and in a quarrel over Pearl, the outlaw shoots Jessie but fails to kill him. Pearl knows that another attempt will be made on Jessie's life unless she kills Lewt, the man she really loves , . . Some great moments of history are recreated in the Technicolor production, "SALOME." starring Rita Hayworth as the dancing princess, Stewart Granger as the Roman commander Claudius, Charles Laughton as Herod. The Sermon on the Mount is delivered to thousands standing on the Bethlehem hills where the message was first spoken. John stands beside the actual River Jordan to baptize his followers, preaches against Queen Herodias in the market place, and denounces the "generation of vipers" in King Herod's court.
