Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
PAVILION, SELSEY. "THE YEARS BETWEEN," chief attraction at the Pavilion on Monday, is followed on Thursday by "WITHOUT RESERVATIONS," featuring Claudette Colbert as Kit Madden. While travelling from New York to Hollywood in connection with the filming of her latest novel, Kit Madden, a pretty young authoress, becomes acquainted with Rusty and Dink, two marine officers. She decides that Rusty would be an ideal leading man for her film, but because the two have ridiculed her book during the course of conversation on the journey, she has not revealed her true identity to them. When they are compelled to change trains, Kit, who has become more than interested in Rusty, finds the friends are not travelling on the same train as herself. Rather than lose sight of Rusty she boards their train without a ticket. This leads to a series of hilarious complications during the course of which Rusty learns who Kit really is. Kit travels to Hollywood while Rusty, feeling sore, sulks in another town. Eventually Dink acts as Cupid and is responsible for bringing the pair together.
