PAVILION, SELSEY. In "THE CITADEL," showing for the first three days of the week, the dramatic story of a brilliant young doctor who takes up the first appointment of his career in Britain's most depressed area the South Wales mining district is revealed on the screen with great emotional power. At Blaenelly, the town to which he goes, he becomes firm friends with a cynical and disillusioned surgeon, and also makes the acquaintance of the local school mistress. The offer of a better post, open to a married man only, gives the young medico the courage to propose, and he and the teacher face the struggle in adversity and wealth together. Based on the character created by Alexandre Dumas, "MONTE CRISTO'S REVENGE," a swash-buckling adventure full of surprises and deftly punctuated with sly humour, is presented on Thursday for three days. Edmond Dantes (Louis Hayward) is revealed as the great-nephew of the original Count of Monte Cristo, and heir to the fabulous Monte Cristo estate. But an attempt to defraud him of his inheritance is successful, and the long adventure to revenge is started.
