PAVILION. SELSEY. THE breath of Ireland's colourful countryside gives freshness to "CAPTAIN LIGHTFOOT," which brings together again two of the "Magnificent. Obsession" stars—Rock Hudson and Barbara Rush. Rock is seen in the swashbuckling role of a 19th Century patriot who rises from being a rough-and-ready highwayman to leadership of a daring underground society. In fierce fist battles or scaling the heights of prison walls to effect breath-taking escapes. Rock has a vigour and dash that sweeps the story along. Barbara Rush as the daughter of the roaring Captain Thunderbolt who hands over his leadership to Hudson is delightful. From Jeff Morrow as her father comes another good performance. One of the most controversial films for many years, "THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE." the story of a class that is almost too tough for its teacher. Starring Glenn Ford as the teacher who puts his trust in strategy and not violence, the film is set in the slum area of any American city. "JOHN AND JULIE." with Moira Lister, Noelle Middleton, Constance Cummings and Wilfrid Hyde White, is the story of a little girl who believes that the Queen wears her crown at all times, and wants to see the procession of the Coronation so that she can be quite sure. Her parents are abroad, however, and her teacher, Miss Stokes. tells her that she must stay at school and watch the ceremony on television. She decides to run away to London and enlists the unwilling help of her friend, John, aged twelve, the son of the local builder. They start their journey by train but a series of mishaps separates them. After some hilarious sequences the runaways are again brought together, and see the Coronation from the top of the Marble Arch. "STOLEN ASSIGNMENT." starring John Bentley, Hy Hazell, Patrick Holt. and Eddie Byrne, is an exciting murder drama. The film tells the story of Jenny Drew, an attractive gossip columnist, and Mike Billings, a star crime reporter, who are working on the disappearance of a certain Mrs. Crossley. Although Mr. Crossley has an alibi, the pair feel that he is is lying and set out to expose him as a ruthless murderer. Complications set in, however, and several new suspects are exposed before the killer is tracked down.
