Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1950-1959
PAVILION, SELSEY. "UNTAMED FRONTIER," a Technicolor production, is the story of the Denbow family who zealously protect their great Texas cattle empire and refuse pioneer settlers right-of-way to free grazing lands. Headed by an irascible, uncompromising cripple, the Denbow authority is invested in his arrogant, vicious son, Glenn (Scott Brady), and his loyal and industrious nephew, Kirk (Joseph Cotten). Into their lives comes a cafe waitress (Shelley Winters) who is tricked into a marriage with Glenn so that she shall not testify in a trial for murder. In "FLESH AND FURY," Tony Curtis portrays Paul Callan a young deaf-mute, who is a born fighter. He falls under the spell of a tawdry night club singer Sonya (Jan Sterling) who realizes his possibilities as a champion boxer. Paul secretly has an operation that restores his hearing and is thus able to learn that Sonya is urging him to enter a championship bout while putting her money on his opponent. On Thursday for three days, the Selsey Players are presenting Kenneth Home's comedy "LOVE IN A MIST." The story concerns two couples, one married, who get lost in a fog and have to spend the night in a lonely farmhouse. Amusing situations follow. The theatre will be closed for rehearsals on Wednesday, and there will be no Roy Rogers' Riders' Club.
