PAVILION, SELSEY. FROM the moment that Ronald Shiner, as an unlucky racing tipster, escapes from an angry mob by seeking refuge among a gathering of cap-and-owned schoolmasters, laughs begin in "TOP OF THE FORM." Hired by the desperate owner of the school who finds she cannot keep masters in one piece, Ronnie manages to beat the boys at their own game. He is a match for all their practical jokes and escapades, but the going is rough before he grins through. He conducts his unruly boys through most unconventional examinations, a trip to Paris, and an hilarious chase after a jewel thief. The story of seven men and their amazing adventures In the Gobi Desert, has been brought to the screen in "DESTINATION GOBI." starring Richard Widmark and Don Taylor. The U.S. Navy is losing too many ships in its conquest of the Pacific and Lieut.-Cmdr. Hobart Wyatt is dropped with seven men to set up a meteorological camp by an oasis in the Gobi Desert and transmit vital weather observations to the Navy. One day, the meteorological camp is located by Japanese aircraft, and in the attack that follows, the equipment and radio are put out of action. The seven survivors of the detachment make a bold decision they will march 800 miles to the sea. Not only do they suffer from fatigue and thirst during their trek, but also from Chinese raiders and Japanese patrols.
