Concert Party – Chichester Observer – Wednesday, 15 July 1914
Transcript:

Mr Max Carl's Visit. Our readers will no doubt be pleased to hear that Mr. Max Carl is paying visit to the Selsey Cinema with his concert party—"Les Papillons", commencing a week's engagement on Monday next. Mr. Carl has gathered together a fine combination of refined and versatile artistes, the party is generally acknowledged to be one of the finest and most talented of this year's touring concert parties. In addition to Mr. Carl himself, in light comedy numbers of female impersonations, there are the following artistes: Miss Dolly Dunworth (soubrette and dancer). Miss Elsa Dawne (soprano), Mr. Eddie Oliver (siffleur and mimic), Mr. Claud Atkins (at the piano), and Mr. George Lindsey (comedian and ventriloquist). As will be seen by the above, the party has an abundance of variety, taking the artistes only on their individual merits, but taken as a whole, with the duets, trios, quartets, concerted items and burlesques, with which the programme is interspersed, it can be readily understood why the party is so successful. They are only here for one week, going direct from Selsey to the Alexandra Palace, London, so we should advise our readers to book their seats while there is yet time.
