Vintage 35MM cinema projector at The Repair Shop with Christian Skelton and Dom and Mark.

This initiative has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Woodger Trust, based in West Wittering. We are deeply grateful to them for their essential financial backing.

The project will be overseen by Millstream Productions, a local company from Emsworth with a proven track record in producing heritage-based films. Their past works include Seas The Day, which highlights the story of Selsey fishermen, and the history of the Selsey Tram, a piece featured in The Novium Museum in Chichester.

As part of this project, students will explore the history of the Pavilion through a series of talks, presentations, and site visits. They will then be divided into teams to work across different phases of the production process: pre-production, production, and post-production. Throughout the project, students will receive practical, skills-based training, including workshops on research, interviewing, and scriptwriting, among others. These industry-specific skills may inspire and prepare students for potential careers in filmmaking.

The culmination of their efforts will be a 15-minute documentary film, accompanied by a short “making-of” documentary showcasing the students’ journey. The Selsey Pavilion Trust plans to premiere the film at a special launch event, tentatively scheduled for summer 2025, which will also mark the beginning of the next phase of the Pavilion’s restoration. A shorter version of the film will be shown before future screenings at the Pavilion.
