Selsey Pavilion Archives: 1940-1949
SELSEY PAVILION. Loaded with laughs, packed with talent and entertainment, Columbia's lavish South American musical, "THE THRILL OF BRAZIL," comes to the Pavilion on Monday, starring Evelyn Keyes, Keenan Wynn, Ann Miller, Allyn Joslyn, Tito Gulzar, Veloz and Yolanda and Enrico Madriguera and his orchestra. Spectacularly filmed against the romantic background of Rio de Janeiro, the new hit gaily blends riotous comedy with sensational numbers. "WHITE CRADLE INN," starring Madeline Carrol, Michael Rennie and Ian Hunter, which is showing on Thursday, has a story combining romance, excitement and pathos—telling as it does, of the clash of temperament between the husband and wife managing a small Swiss Inn to which a young French boy evacuee is sent, and of their love intrigues. The husband's contempt for what he considers the boy's cowardice, the wife's love for the homeless child and the boy's eventual demonstration of his bravery are woven into really strong drama.
